Kaptai Lake

Kaptai Lake is the largest lake in Bangladesh. The Kaptai Lake's average depth is 100 feet (30 m) and maximum depth is 490 feet (150 m). The lake was created as a result of building the Kaptai Dam on the Karnaphuli River, as part of the Karnaphuli Hydro-electric project. 

Kaptai Upazila is famous for unique hilly areas, riverside lake, and eye-catching green environment. Kaptai Lake is the largest artificial lake in South Asia with up to 11,000 sq km area. It is fascinating with small hills, sculpted mountain roads, waterfalls and greenhouses near water.

There are numerous types of plants and animals in the hills, and many species of endangered fish and endless biodiversity in the lake. The environment around the lake, the small islands, the many birds and water-centric indigenous community will keep you fascinated every moment.  Though it is an artificial lake, nature has made the entire form with its own love. You can visit Kaptai Lake all year round, but in the rainy season, the full form of the fountains will give heaven feelings.

Attractive Places In Kaptai Lake: The mother nature lovers can see the around of the lake with a boat. If you want to see the beauty of the lake from the top of the hills, you can visit Lake Paradise picnic spot. There is also a chance to travel by the lake riding on a boat or pedal boat. Apart from visiting Kaptai Lake with a reserved Speedboat or Boat, you can visit many places including Rangamati Hanging Bridge, Shuvalong Jhorna, Rangamati City and many more.

There is a way of kayaking in the river Karnaphuli near Kaptai. If you want to enjoy the ride of the cable car, you have to go Sheikh Russell Ecopark. So, you will get some amazing attractive place when visiting Kaptai Lake.
